Tokyo To-Go

These are so cool, found them on the Hostess with the Mostess website, but they're actually available from Amazon.

Almost too good to eat off, i really love these Geishas, looking very unimpressed with their chicken, hamburger, pizza and hotdog. A shame to put food on these!!

Viento del este, viento del oeste

Not sure what this is all about, its all in Spanish... as far as i know they're broaches.
these are so unique, and a really great geisha design..... I hope they're broaches!

Japanese Toy Designs

A popular blog topic of late, I need to jump on board. There's a beautiful collection of Japanese Toy Designs at Ningyo-do Bunko which deserves a bit of a look. Yes the site is all in Japanese, but the illustrations are stunning!

This one, for me, is reminiscent of Super Mario Bros 2 (I really have to do some sort of Nintendo post soon) what with throwing vegetables!

My vast Japanfluenced Mind, leads me to believe that this is a Noh Mask... along with an early incarnation of the Hammer Bros?

Mingtees

Japanese Lotus Crest

There are a lot of things I love about Mingtees work, the beautiful colours, the tranquil design elements, the fact that it would make the most stunning embroideries - and most of all the inspiration from the Kamon - a Japanese Family Crest.

work could even be repeat patterns, imagine some printed paper or fabric for kimonos! The thought of it all makes me drool, and wonder why isn't she doing any prints of her work? *hint hint* ;)

Kokeshi Doll

Kokeshi Doll, originally uploaded by * Lorena Alvarez *.

Gorgeous Acrylic Painting, by Lorena Alvarez, the thing I like about this the most is the hair. Looks so fantastic with using pink as the highlights (instead of the usual blue you always see with black hair) Also love the cherry blossoms!

Card

Merchant Ship of the Dutch East India Company, 1782

Nagasaki School, published by Toshimaya

Hand coloured woodblock print. 65 x 58 cm

Found this card yesterday and snapped it up - how could I not?
It's amazing to see a Japanese artwork, depicting the Dutch Flag so heavily.

The Dutch East India Company was established in 1602, to carry out colonial activities in Asia. (wiki)
